Cookie Policy

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device, usually to remember you between visits or to track what you do across other sites.

This site does not set cookies

We do not set any cookies on askgenni.com, so there is no cookie banner and nothing for you to accept or reject. Our analytics run on Plausible, which is cookie-free. The one thing this site does store in your browser is described under “The chat widget” below, and it is not a cookie.

What that means in practice

There are no essential cookies, no preference cookies and no analytics cookies, because there are no cookies at all. The site is static and does not need to remember you in order to work.

Plausible gives us anonymous, aggregate usage statistics - how many people read a page, roughly where in the world they were - without cookies and without collecting anything that identifies you.

Third-Party Cookies

We do not use third-party tracking cookies, and no advertising network is present on this site. Our Plausible instance is one we run ourselves rather than a service we send your data to, so the analytics data is not shared with anyone and is not used to follow you across other websites.

The chat widget

If you use the chat window on this site, it stores a small amount of data in your browser's local and session storage so the conversation survives a page reload. That data stays in your browser, is not a cookie, and is not used for advertising. Clearing your site data removes it. The messages you send are processed to answer you, and are covered by our privacy policy.

Managing site storage

There is nothing here you need to manage, but for completeness:

  • Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies
  • Browser plugins: You can use privacy-focused browser extensions
  • Browser controls: you can block or clear site storage at any time in your browser settings

Blocking site storage will stop the chat window remembering your conversation across a page reload. Nothing else on this site will change.

Privacy-First Analytics

Unlike Google Analytics and similar tools, Plausible Analytics:

  • Doesn't use cookies
  • Doesn't collect personal data
  • Doesn't track users across websites
  • Is self-hosted by us, so the data is not passed to an analytics company

Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
